“Obama’s Healthcare Plan a Disaster for America”

Because I have been a researcher and writer for eons (am now 84 years old), I went back into my files to see what was said about Obamacare when it first “hit the
fan” in 2010 – 2014.
Unfortunately, every negative concern that was predicted back then has indeed driven up the costs of healthcare just as feared.
Ironically, Obama’s Affordable Care Act (ACA) and his far-left Democrat Party are the very ones who have forced Congress into the longest shutdown in our nation’s history, starting on 10.1.25.
Sen. Chuck Schumer is the Senate Majority Leader; he was a huge supporter of Obamacare and has been in Congress since 1999.
He and the other Democrats have refused to take the responsibility for the damage Obamacare has done to our nation.
Obamacare (Affordable Care Act – ACA) was passed by Congress in 2010 but came into full force across the country in 2014.
Below are statements that were made at the time that Obama’s ACA began to spread its tentacles across our country.
PERSONAL REFERENCE (10.31.13)
Through our 50 years of marriage, my husband and I have always had to struggle to make ends meet. One way we have done this is to choose healthcare policies that we can afford.
No, they have not had all the “bells and whistles,” (e.g., oral and vision care). In fact, when our first child was born, we had to borrow from our retirement fund to pay for his caesarean birth; but we always managed through tight budgeting to pay for our own healthcare.
However, the Essential Health Benefits under ADA require that ALL plans in this country MUST meet the following requirements:
ESSENTIAL HEALTH BENEFITS
The Affordable Care Act ensures health plans offered in the individual and small group markets, both inside and outside of the Health Insurance Marketplace, offer a comprehensive package of items and services, known as essential health benefits.
Essential health benefits must include items and services within at least the following 10 categories: ambulatory patient services; emergency services; hospitalization; maternity and newborn care; mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment; prescription drugs; rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices; laboratory services; preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management; and pediatric services, including oral and vision care.
Insurance policies must cover these benefits in order to be certified and offered in the Health Insurance Marketplace. States expanding their Medicaid programs must provide these benefits to people newly eligible for Medicaid.

OBAMACARE HAS DESTROYED PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Not only does Obamacare almost totally destroy the personal responsibility that the public needs to feel to try to keep themselves healthy, but it also runs up the cost of healthcare for those people “who are pulling the wagon.”
Ironically, many people who have been responsible enough to pay for their own healthcare [those “pulling the wagon”] are having to drop it because of the rising costs SO THAT PEOPLE WITHOUT HEALTHCARE CAN HAVE THE CADILLAC PLAN.
There is something very wrong with this picture!
Obamacare is the ultimate redistribution of wealth in its purest form!
We, who have sacrificed by paying our bills and buying our own health insurance policies even though it meant not having the money to buy many luxury items nor being able to select the Cadillac health plan, are being forced to pay for the Cadillac health plan for millions of other people who may or may not be deserving individuals.
Millions of people (old and young) because of their age and lifestyle do not need maternity care and newborn care, mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment.
PRO-LIFE SUPPORTERS HAVING TO PAY FOR OTHER PEOPLE’S CONTRACEPTIVES AND ABORTIONS
We also do not believe it is right to keep the pro-life people who are going into ACA from knowing which policies subsidize abortions.
Nor is it right to require pro-life people to pay for other people’s contraceptives and abortions:

According to the secrecy clause, plans which include abortion may only reveal that they cover abortion in the “Summary of Benefits,” and only at the time of enrollment.
Furthermore, materials published by the insurer or the Exchanges are not permitted to provide the monthly cost of the abortion premium—leaving insurance-Exchange participants in the dark about possible subsidization of abortion. Even worse, participants will not be allowed to opt-out of the abortion premium once they are enrolled.
Obviously, Exchange participants should be given the tools to enroll in an abortion-free plan.

All of the 28 plans available through HealthSource RI include coverage for elective abortion and, thus, under the provisions of the Obamacare law (45 CFR § 156.280, PPACA Section 1303), require the insurers to collect from each enrollee in these plans separate premium payments to pay for the elective abortions covered under the plan.
The law requires that the additional mandatory abortion fee be charged to all enrollees in the health plan “without regard to the enrollee’s age, sex, or family status” and whether they object to abortion or not.

Because of the discriminatory way Obamacare treats married vs. unmarried couples, Obamacare will save a couple $7,230 per year if they get divorced or live together.
This is for a typical 40-year old couple with children where the husband makes around $70,000 and a wife makes around $23,000.
For a 60-year old couple with no children and where the couple makes around $62,041 a year, they could save under Obamacare $11,028 a year by getting divorced or remaining unmarried.
These figures are according to the Obamacare “calculator” provided by Kaiser Family Foundation that demonstrates how the Obamacare tax credits work.
ACA INCENTIVIZES DIVORCE ACROSS AMERICA
Such wrong-headed incentives under Obamacare are sure to have an undesirable impact on our country.
Whatever happened to the federal government’s pledge to “do no harm”?
For those people who might consider following the Obamacare divorce incentives, the next generation of children is watching us; and what we do in this generation is sure to be modeled by our children and grandchildren.
Investor’s Business Daily stated on 9.6.13 (http://news.investors.com/politics-obamacare/090613-670104-obamacare-spurs-shortest-low-wage-week-ever.htm?p=full ) that in the industries in which wages are low and the numbers of uninsured tend to be high, workers’ hours are being cut to below 30 hours per week – the point at which health coverage mandates for employers kick in.
Because the 2015 fines from Obamacare for the employer mandate will be based on staffing levels by mid-2014 at the latest, it is certainly possible that employers are already making the difficult decisions to cut their employees to below 30 hours per week --
WORKERS’ HOURS BEING CUT BECAUSE OF OBAMACARE
