“Jan. 6 Tapes Released – Insurrection or Not – Now Public Gets To Decide”

On 11.17.23, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson released to the public more than 40,000 hours of footage from the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol storming.
Speaker Johnson has only been in the Speaker’s chair since Oct. 15, 2023; yet he has already lived up to his promise to make these tapes of the so-called Capitol “insurrection” available for the public to see what actually took place.
Quotes from House Speaker Mike Johnson:
“To restore America’s trust and faith in their Government we must have transparency. This is another step towards keeping the promises I made when I was elected to be your Speaker.”
“Today, we will begin immediately posting video on a public website and move as quickly as possible to add to the website nearly all of the footage, more than 40,000 hours.
In the meantime, a public viewing room will ensure that every citizen can view every minute of the videos uncensored.
This decision will provide millions of Americans, criminal defendants, public interest organizations, and the media an ability to see for themselves what happened that day, rather than having to rely upon the interpretation of a small group of government officials.”
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) is the chair of the Committee on House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight. He just posted 90 hours of Capitol security video in the online viewing room.
Chair Loudermilk stated, “The goal of our investigation has been to provide the American people with transparency on what happened at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and this includes all official video from that day…
Rep. Loudermilk indicated that his office will keep on posting a “traunche” of video footage periodically as his committee continues to conduct its investigation and reviews more footage.
