“Mothers’ Day Sermon by TX Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick”

TX Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick was asked by Ed Young (pastor of Second Baptist Church, Houston) to preach the 5.12.24 Mothers’ Day sermon.  

Further on down the page is the link to the sermon, and I guarantee that each and every person who watches it will come away with many new perspectives on what we must do to preserve our nation. 

Not only does Dan Patrick extoll the value of women and of mothers, but he also addresses “Where We Are As a Church.”  

Dan Patrick has never forgotten a friend who told him what the word “BIBLE” means: “Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.”  

Matt. 20:26 – “but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.” 

II Chron. 7:14: “if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Those at the Alamo lost the battle but won the war. 

George Washington suffered early loss but eventually prevailed. 

We do not know when we are in the midst of a “battle” whether or not we will win the “war.”   

Gen. Eisenhower did not know at the time whether his Omaha Beach campaign would be successful; had the plan failed, the Germans would have won the war. 

When 9/11 occurred, Pres. Bush had to make a decision based upon the information that he had at the time. He did not know whether we would win the war against Al-Qaeda.

Israel has been under attack for centuries, and they have always managed to prevail. What will history say about the United States if we decide not to stand with Israel – God’s chosen people? 

“For you [Israel] are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession” (Deuteronomy 7:6)

Adults, who would not be permitted to pass out lascivious books to a group of adults, are allowing them to be given to children. Where is the Church? 

Proverbs 22:6 -- “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.”  

How about the fact that only around 50% of adults in our country are registered to vote? 

Yes, the Church is under attack; but for the sake of our children and grandchildren, we must prevail even though at the time we do not know whether our efforts will “win the war” or not.
