“School Textbook Companies Trying To Destroy Children’s Lives” – by U. S. Parents Involved in Education
By Sheri Few, President of USPIE
Excerpts from this article:
Scholastic, one of the world’s largest publishers and distributors of children’s books, is going all in on gender ideology propaganda.
The company has released a “Resource Guide” for parents and teachers promoting its “Read With Pride” series. The guide is aimed at children of all ages, from pre-K to the end of high school.
Scholastic is “currently in 115,000 schools, reaching 3.8 million educators, 54 million students, and 78 million parents/caregivers domestically,” according to its website.
The American-based publishing giant is not the only one to push gender ideology on schoolchildren.
Pearson, based in Great Britain and the largest publisher of college textbooks, also supplies the K-12 market. It has featured a sociology textbook that advocated the use of “gender identity” instead of “biological sex,” according to an article in The Daily Signal, a publication of the Heritage Foundation.
“Not everyone is going along with this illusion that there are more than two sexes — both of which are biologically determined,” says United States Parents Involved in Education (USPIE) Founder and President Sheri Few. “In fact, resistance is building.”
A Pew survey from February found that 50% of teachers said students shouldn’t learn about “gender” in school (compared to 33% who said children should learn they can be a gender that is different from their sex).
A survey from the Public Religion Research Institute finds that 65% of Americans say they believe there are only two genders — male and female, a finding that contrasts sharply with Scholastic’s glossary.
“The Daily Signal article proves these textbook companies have their own agenda, independent of teachers and parents, which is valuable for everyone to know,” Few says. “The surveys referenced in this article suggest that all infusion of ‘gender’ conversation in schools should be eliminated.”
“The [Pearson] book approvingly cited the work of Alfred Kinsey, a trained zoologist who argued young children can benefit from sexual activity,” the article said.
Kinsey, a bisexual professor at Indiana University, published “Sexual Behavior in the Human Male” in 1948 and “Sexual Behavior in the Human Female” in 1953.
Both books, which helped launch the sexual revolution against traditional norms, were effectively rebutted as fake science by Dr. Judith Reisman and her colleagues in “Kinsey, Sex and Fraud: The Indoctrination of a People” (1990).
“The fact that a major publisher of materials for children would rely on the discredited, perverse work of someone like Alfred Kinsey speaks volumes,” Few says.
“Pearson quietly removed much of its website material promoting gender as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion after a Heritage Foundation report exposed this content in June 2023,” the Daily Signal reported.
“Scholastic includes a glossary in the guide that defines “agender” (having no gender identity) and ‘allocishet’ (a term for ‘people whose gender and sexuality are privileged by society’), among other terms that are hard for even adults to follow,” the article says.
Scholastic also features the Southern Poverty Law Center, or SPLC, which specializes in identifying “hate groups” and decries “binary notions” of biology.
SPLC’s education arm, Learning for Justice, “produces classroom material on critical race theory while offering ‘tools and practices’ for talking about gender to ‘students of all ages,’” the Daily Signal reports.
“The Southern Poverty Law Center is one of the biggest bullies on the block,” Few says. “They list Christian and conservative groups, like our parental rights organization, alongside real hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan, Neo-Nazis and skinheads on their ‘Hate Map.’ This is guilt by association on a big level.”
