Across this country, there are millions of people who are worried about their own health conditions rather than COVID itself.
Because of the COVID shelter-in-place and stay-at-home mandates, all normal healthcare facilities are closed. People cannot go to surgeons, doctors, dentists, optometrists, chiropractors, specialists, etc.
To name a few, here are situations known to us personally:
older people who need their eyes checked regularly for cataracts and retina problems;
a young man who tore his ACL and needs knee surgery;
a man with a very painful back injury whose surgery had to be cancelled;
a person with painful kidney stones who instead of being able to have the shock wave treatment to break them up so that they can be passed has been forced to wear a highly uncomfortable stent for weeks and weeks;
elderly people whose yearly physicals were cancelled who may have heart, cancer, or cardiac issues;
a woman who fell down concrete stairs years ago but who needs regular chiropractic treatments to lessen the pain of her permanent injuries;
a man with heart problems who regularly goes to the cardiologist for him to monitor a mitral valve leak;
an underprivileged little girl who needs regular dental care because of serious gum problems;
and on and on.
HEALTHCARE WORKERS
Now we are hearing that healthcare workers who have had regular jobs for years in healthcare facilities are being laid off because the COVID regulations are keeping them from seeing their patients. Other healthcare support staffers are having their pay cut.
Most doctors are sitting at home without being able to give their patients needed physical exams, knowing that their patients’ necessary blood work is being delayed.
These serious situations might possibly be understandable if we knew that all hospital rooms, ICU, and ER were truly needed to battle the COVID onslaught. However, this has not proven to be the case.
HOSPITAL ROOMS SITTING VACANT
Let’s take a look at the Texas Health and Human Services (THHS) dashboard to see what is happening in our own state (https://txdshs.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/ed483ecd702b4298ab01e8b9cafc8b83).
We live in the Waco, Texas area (McLennan County). The THHS considers us to be in Trauma Service Area M. When I look at the bottom of the dashboard under “Hospitals – Regional,” this is what I see as of today, 4.14.20. Please notice that 333 hospital beds are not even being used:
2019 Population Estimate – 352,301
Total Staffed Hospital Beds – 470
Available Hospital Beds – 333
Available ICU Beds – 26
Available Ventilators – 67
Lab-Confirmed COVID-19 Patients Currently in Hospital – 5
COVID DEATHS COMPARED TO FLU AND AUTO DEATHS
According to my 4.12.20 article entitled “COVID, Flu, and Auto Deaths – How Do They Compare?” (https://www.educationviews.org/auto-flu-deaths-did-not-close-down-u-s/):
Here is the comparison per 1 million population: 66 COVID deaths, 127 Flu deaths, 112 Auto deaths.
The U. S. has lost about 3 ½ times more people to Flu and Auto deaths this year than we have lost to COVID-19.
MUST GET BACK TO WORK
The COVID models have been wrong; many of the federal public health officials have been off base. What was hyped as a disastrous pandemic that might destroy us all has turned out to be far less than that. Talented researchers (many in private labs) and knowledgeable doctors “in the trenches” have discovered breakthroughs in fighting COVID with more targeted treatments to come.
On Jan. 31, 2020 (10 days after the first case of COVID was discovered in the U. S.), Pres. Trump saved untold numbers of Americans from contracting COVID by closing the borders to Chinese travelers, many of whom would undoubtedly have been carrying the COVID virus in their bodies.
Pres. Trump on March 19, 2020 also saved many patients from dying of COVID because of his touting the importance of hydroxychloroquine for the treatment of COVID. The amazing HQ testimonies are being heard all over the United States and in other countries.
Now it is time to get our country moving again; and with careful, step-by-step guidance from Pres. Trump, this can and will be accomplished. As he has frequently said, “The cure must not be worse than the problem.” Our heartfelt prayers go with him as he makes the most difficult decision he has ever made in his life.
