“COVID Vaccine Mandates in Texas Defeated – Each Violation $50,000”

Because the Regular Legislative Session of the Texas Legislature ended so abruptly with the fallacious decision by the Texas House to recommend impeachment of TAG Ken Paxton, there were very important bills left without getting to the floor for a final vote. 

Two of those bills (HB 81 and SB 177) prohibited local governments from requiring COVID-related masks, vaccines, or business shutdowns. These bills included the blocking of any Texas entity (including hospitals and private businesses) from mandating COVID vaccines [and masks] for employees.   

However, HB 81 and SB 177 were never brought to the floor for a vote before the Regular Session ended; and therefore, the protections from these two bills were never put into law. 

Consequently, the Baylor Medical Center (a part of the largest medical center in the whole world – Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas) declared in October 2023 that they were mandating that all students, faculty, and 11,800 employees of BMC must get the latest COVID booster shot [and mask up indoors].  

If Baylor Medical Center had gotten by with such a mandate, most of the other healthcare centers around the state would have followed suit; and all of us Texans would have been thrust right back into the COVID requirements that have proven themselves to be built upon false information.

THIRD SPECIAL SESSION

When the Third Special Session began on 10.9.23, House and Senate members filed companion bills – SB 7/HB 7 (improved versions of HB 81/SB 177) which passed both the House and the Senate and are awaiting the signature of Gov. Abbott. (At this time, there appears to be no reason why Gov. Abbott would keep these bills from becoming law.) 

Except for a few Democrats, both SB 7/HB 7 passed readily with only one main point of disagreement:  The House wanted the penalty for each infraction to be $10,000 while the Senate wanted it to be $50,000.  

Both the House and Senate reached agreement readily, and now because of SB 7 and HB 7, if Baylor Medical Center were to require its employees to have to take the COVID vaccines (and wear masks), BMC would have to pay $50,000 for each infraction.  

 

NOW IN TEXAS ALL COVID MANDATES TO BE BANNED

According to the Senate Journal, Oct. 31, 2023, these two statements stand out:

SB 7 [HB 7] also “does cover…interns… medical students, and fellowships…

Now ALL Texans are protected under SB 7 [HB 7]…where you get to make your own decision whether or not to take the COVID vaccines.

Quotes from the Engrossed Version of SB 7 [HB 7]:

Relating to prohibiting a private employer from adopting or enforcing certain COVID-19 vaccine mandates; authorizing an administrative penalty. 

Sec. 81D.006.  ADMINISTRATIVE PENALTY.  (a)  The commission shall impose on an employer who violates this chapter an administrative penalty in an amount equal to $50,000 for each violation…

 

WHY THE DEMOCRATS LOVE THE LOCKDOWNS AND COVID MANDATES

Please notice in the recorded votes (posted below) that any opposition to HB 7/SB 7 was led by Democrats who clearly love for the public “to be locked” down and “COVID mandated.”  

We need to remember what happened in the elections of 2020 when the absentee ballots, election rigging, and ballot harvesting were made possible by the COVID lockdowns.  

With the all-important elections of 2024 now in the crosshairs, the Dems want so badly to keep the election control method in place.  Thankfully they have lost this round.
